Tooth Structure - Root Canals And Pulp Tissue

The structure of the human tooth has many different features. The part of the tooth found above the surface of the gum is commonly referred to by dentists as the crown, while the rest of the tooth, found below the gum-line and in the jawbone, is called the root of the tooth.

The tooth can be divided into three main layers for the purposes of this discussion. The top, or outer layer, is a hard, calcified surface called the enamel. Directly beneath this layer, extending down into the gums and jawbone, is the dentin (sometimes called dentine).

The innermost layer is the pulp tissue. It is found most heavily concentrated in the crown of the tooth. At the center of the tooth, there is a cavity which houses this soft tissue, in an area sometimes referred to as the pulp chamber'.

Root canals are long passages full of the same soft pulp tissue, which are also found deep within the dentin of a tooth, and run from the pulp chamber through the roots of the tooth. These root canals extend deep into the gum and jawbone, connecting the pulp chamber to the nerves and tissue found in the jawbone.

Human teeth typically have between one and four root canals, with the greatest numbers found toward the back of the mouth. The tooth receives nutrition and sensory functions through the blood vessels and nerve tissue found running through these canals.

The tooth's nerve and pulp tissue is vital in the growth and development of the tooth. However, after the tooth has fully matured and ceases to grow, the nerves, blood vessels, and pulp tissue only provide sensory functions to the tooth.

If a cavity develops on the outer surface of the tooth, or if the tooth has undergone trauma from an accident, it may cause the soft tissue of the pulp chamber and root canals to become irritated, inflamed, or infected. If left untreated, the condition very well could develop into a serious, quite painful infection of the jaw and jawbone.

If a tooth appears likely to develop an infection such as this, a dentist may advise a pulpectomy, more commonly referred to as a root canal, or root canal treatment.

In a root canal treatment, or pulpectomy, the dentist will attempt to scrape out the pulp tissue from both the pulp chamber and the root canals themselves. The dentist will then fill the tooth and seal it, protecting it from any potential recurrence. While root canal procedures are commonly thought of as painful experiences, modern pulpectomies usually include the use of a local anesthetic to alleviate any pain that might be felt.

Tips Regarding Trade Show Exibition

Here are a few suggestions that might be helpful in planning your event:

1. Make your display larger than life! Big screen monitors, large pictures, etc. The small items to display get lost in a big room with many exhibitors.

2. Create a LEAD SHEET for everyone you talk to and take notes. I like the SWOT questions. Ask them when they had their last dental visit. If they have a dentist, ask them if they are happy there.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

3. If you have a table at your booth, put it at the back against the wall, not in front of the aisle. That creates a barrier. You want to welcome people into the booth instead of you standing behind a table.

4. Get out in the aisles and work the crowd. You can't expect them all to come to you.

5. Get to know all the other exhibitors. Be interested in them, first, and they will be interested in you. They are there all day and usually bored.

6. Don't sit down at your booth. Stay standing and work in shifts so you don't get too tired. Take the chairs out of the booth so you are not tempted to sit.
I have actually seen people sitting BEHIND their display so they don't have to talk to anyone!!!

7. Have a cute giveaway and/or drawing. Candy is good. Sometimes you can find red foil chocolate lips. Smile stickers that you can place on people's collars. We had some lipstick smile stickers that look like someone has blotted their lipstick and we would go around asking people if they had had a kiss today. That was fun. Everyone was coming to our booth wanting those stickers.

8. Follow up with the lead sheets. Ask permission to contact people.

9. Collect E-mail addresses. Most people have them on their business cards now.

10. Have fun! Remember your non-verbal is 93%. Get the I personalities in your office out there and PARTY!

Aesthetic Laser Dentistry - Smile Enhancement With Laser Technology

With the aesthetic zone being absolutely critical to a patient's external appearance and inner emotions, orchestrating a bioesthetic result is mandatory. Too often, this is complicated when aesthetic desires infringe on the health of the periodontal complex. This is often true when biologic width violations have occurred iatrogenically.

Many factors may contribute to these failures, the two main culprits being intracrevicular margin location and over contoured restorations. Not only is plaque accumulation problematic, but the supracrestal fibers also become interrupted, causing the tissues to become further inflamed and aesthetically unmanageable. Kois' landmark study defined the total dentogingival complex (DGC) as clinically predictable at 3.0 mm on the direct facial aspect, and at 3.0-5.0 mm interproximally when measured from the free gingival margin to the osseous crest. It is critical anteriorally that the gingival margin mimics the osseous scallop while maintaining the DGC.1 Further complicating these complex situations is the degree of inflammation in the soft tissue, affecting the clinical development of health and aesthetic symmetry.

Dental lasers have evolved considerably as an adjunctive and alternative treatment to safely, conservatively, and reliably decrease bacterial levels and improve the hard and soft tissue contours.

Often the patient is frustrated with his or her previous poor cosmetic results, but to improve the periodontal framework in order to create an ideal result, they must be referred to yet another doctor. Even more challenging is the extended healing time created by reflective mucoperiosteal surgery. This not only affects the chronology of final restorative care, but also delays the patient's ultimate satisfaction and happiness for a minimum of two to three months. Fortunately, dental lasers have evolved considerably as an adjunctive and alternative treatment to safely, conservatively, and reliably decrease bacterial levels and improve the hard and soft tissue contours.

Studies of Er: YSGG lasers by Rizoiu and others have shown that thermal coagulative results, as well as bony ablation characteristics are similar to a dental bur. From a patient-friendly standpoint, less need for suturing and shorter healing times improves case acceptance for doing ideal dentistry. In selected cases, such as the one presented in this article, minimally invasive laser procedures, with precise restorative planning and technique, can satisfy aesthetic and functional parameters. Furthermore, patients can enjoy optimal results more comfortably and efficiently.

A conservative strategy was devised that would allow us to correct the problems and causes in a multitasking manner.

How To Great Quality Cheap Dentures

Are you in need of cheap dentures, but don't want to sacrifice quality? Are you having trouble finding dentures that are affordable? There may be an option that could save you as much as 50%-60% on your next set of dentures. Would that interest you at all? Read on...

The best way that I know of to get cheap dentures is by getting yourself a dental discount plan. Discount plans are not insurance policies, they simply provide big discounts on everyday dental care and offer huge discounts on most major dental procedures, such as dentures, bridge work, root canals and more. There are certain discount plans that even offer sizable discounts on things like Orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

This is what you'll need to do. Locate a participating dentist in your area and then join a discount dental plan. The membership fees for joining are extremely low. Cost for individuals is usually less than $100 per year and under $200 for families. The savings far outweighs the cost of the dental plan.

You'll receive confirmation within a couple days and you can then start seeing your new dentist and take advantage of all of the savings offered. The only thing that you must be prepared to do is pay for your visit in full at the time of your appointment. Since there is no insurance involved and the dentist is giving you these big discounts, understandably, they're asking to be paid in full for the care they provide at the time of the appointment.

I guarantee you that if you had a pre-existing condition and bought dental insurance to take care of it, that you'd be paying for 100% of the costs. That's because dental insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions without a waiting period of several months. Take a good look at the dental discount plans if you're looking for cheap dentures. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Drink Water For A Dazzling Smile!

Most people assume that simply by brushing their teeth every day and avoiding too many sugary sweets, they are protecting their bright smiles. However, many people are unaware that they also need to watch what they drink in order to minimize the impact on their teeth.

Even with daily brushing and flossing, tooth decay can set in when teeth are exposed to too much sugar. Sugar can be found in damaging quantities in soft drinks which can be especially harmful to teeth, particularly in children and young adults who often consume this type of drink.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

The reason soft drinks are so harmful is that the bacteria which can be found on our gums and teeth thrive on sugar. These bacteria can metabolize sugar very quickly, usually within 20 minutes, producing an acid in the process. This acid sticks to the teeth and is more commonly known as plaque, which must be brushed away. As the amount of sugar consumed at any one time increases, the acid also becomes stronger. Over time, Exposing teeth to this acid results in a weakening of the tooth enamel, which leads to tooth decay and cavities.

A worrying rise in tooth decay rates has been observed in America where the number of cans of soft drink consumed annually per person has risen six hundred percent since the end of the second world war to nearly 600 cans per person per year. This trend is also being followed in the UK where sugary drinks consumption is rising.

For those who are trying to cut down on their sugar intake, the number of names given to sugar in soft drinks can be confusing, making it harder to avoid. Usually though, sugar can appear on the ingredients list as sucrose, glucose, fructose, dextrose or corn syrup.

Fructose is the type of sugar which is contained in fruit. It is less damaging than refined sugar, however whilst preferring fruit smoothies over fizzy drinks will be kinder to your waistline, they will not necessarily be kinder to your teeth.

Office workers are particularly vulnerable to developing oral and other health problems. A sedentary working pattern, coupled with the availability of sweets, fizzy drinks and vending machines in many workplaces can cause tooth decay in people who may consider that they have adequate oral hygiene. Couple this with the large amounts of coffee consumed by office workers and the occasional glass of red wine at business lunches' and stubborn tooth stains can be added to the list of complaints caused by other damaging beverages.

Sitting at work with a sugary drink on your desk can also be particularly harmful, as this way people will tend to sip the sugary drink slowly. Slow sipping gives the bacteria in your mouth a sugar boost every so often, worsening the effects of the acid they produce on your teeth.

One way to combat this at work is to switch making trips to the vending machine for the water cooler instead. Drinking more water during the day reduces staining and also reduces the impact of the occasional sweet drink on our gums and teeth. There are also plenty of sugar free squashes which can be added to the water to vary the flavour without damaging your teeth.

A water cooler is a valuable addition to any office environment as it will not only cut down on the number of days staff spend at the dentist, but staying hydrated also brings a raft of other benefits including improved concentration and fewer headaches.

Understanding Dental Implant Bone Grafting

You may have decided that you'd like to replace your missing teeth with dental implants instead of dentures, but aren't sure what is involved. The short answer to that is that it will depend on the current health of the bone into which the implants will be inserted.

Unless your jawbone is healthy, and has not suffered erosion from infection, gum disease, or previous tooth extraction, you will need to have it built up so that it can hold your implants securely. Dental implant bone grafting is a lengthy process, but can usually be done in your dentist's office.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Your dentist will use either autogenous bone, taken from your own body, or a synthetic or artificial bone substitute. Cow bone is also used frequently for dental implant bone grafting. The addition of this bone will stimulate your body to build new bone around it, but with some synthetic materials the body does not respond by producing new bone, and the synthetic material does the job of securing the dental implant.

Methods Of Dental Implant Bone Grafting

There are several methods of dental implant bone grafting; block bone grafting entails removing bone from another part of the patient's body. Autogenous bone for a dental implant bone grafting procedure is usually harvested from a patient's hip or chin, implanted in t he area where the tooth is being replaced, and allowed to heal and grow new bone for at least three, and as long as six months. Any bone taken from areas outside the patient's mouth will have to be removed in a hospital by an orthopedic surgeon, and transferred to the dentist.

Allograft bone used in dental implant bone grafting is taken from cadavers and under the very close supervision of bone banks. This type of bone harvesting has been going on for years and has supplied bone for thousands of medical and dental procedures with no instances of transmitted disease.

Animal bone used in dental implant bone grafting is known as xenograft, which is the term used for any trans-species transplanting. Both allograft and xenograft dental implant bone are foreign substances to a patient's body and, very infrequently will trigger a rejection.

Regardless of the source of the , the object is to stimulate the body's bone production in the implant area. One way of making sure the bone growth occurs as quickly as possible for the dentist to insert a barrier membrane around the newly grafted dental implant bone. This will keep the body's more rapidly growing tissues which surround the graft from filling in the areas in which new bone is meant to grow.

Performing a dental implant bone graft with bone expansion requires the dentist to use bone expansion tools to separate sections of the jaw bone and insert the bone implant between them; if the bone is already strong enough to secure it, the dentist may place the implant in the opening instead.

When Bone Grafting Is Not Appropriate

If dental implant bone grafts, bone growth, or bone expansion will not provide sufficient support for a dental implant, the patient may have to have a mold taken of his ore her jawbone and a plate inserted to hole the implants.

If you have plenty of bone tissue and the gums and teeth surrounding the area where you want a dental implant are healthy, then you may not have to concern yourself with dental implant bone grafts. But be prepared for an extended period of procedures and healing, and accept that having dental implants is the most expensive way you will find of replacing your teeth.

Dental Bonding - One of Many Cosmetic Dentistry Options

Dental bonding just may be the perfect cosmetic dentistry solution for those of you who have a gap in between your two front teeth but you don't want braces or for those of you that have a minor chip that is too small a problem for veneers.

Whether your teeth have been cracked, chipped or stained, dental bonding can help; in fact, dental bonding procedures are also used to repair hereditary flaws and some structural damage that has been caused by tooth decay.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Dental bonding involves the use of composite resin that is specially designed so it can be color-matched to each patient's teeth to provide a completely natural-looking result. Like any other cosmetic dentistry procedure, the more teeth the patients need to have fixed, the longer the procedure will take. Minor dental bonding, however, can usually be completed in under an hour.

The Procedure

The dentist first applies an etching solution to the patient's damaged teeth. When decay is involved, the damaged area will need to be drilled out first. The etching solution creates grooves that allow for proper adhesion of the composite resin-bonding agent. The resin in then applied to the teeth in layers. A specially designed light then hardens the layers, and once the appropriate number of resin layers have been applied, the hardened tooth can be sculpted and polished until a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing result is achieved.

The Result

The result of dental bonding looks and feels very natural. Prior to composite resin being used, when a tooth was damaged or decayed, it was commonly repaired with a silver amalgam filling. These fillings were not attractive-looking and required much of the tooth's natural structure to be drilled away that they could be inserted. Resin bonding keeps as much of the natural tooth intact as possible.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Advantages: Bonding is among the easiest and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. Unlike veneers and crowns, which are customized tooth coverings that must be manufactured in a laboratory, bonding usually can be done in one office visit unless several teeth are involved. Another advantage, compared with veneers and crowns, is that the least amount of tooth enamel is removed. Also, unless dental bonding is being performed to fill a cavity, anesthesia is usually not required.

Disadvantages: Although the material used in dental bonding is somewhat stain resistant, it does not resist stains as well as crowns. Another disadvantage is that the bonding materials do not last as long nor are as strong as other restorative procedures, such as crowns, veneers, or fillings. Additionally, bonding materials can chip and break off the tooth.

Because of some of the limitations of bonding, some dentists view bonding as best suited for small cosmetic changes, for temporary correction of cosmetic defects, and for correction of teeth in areas of very low bite pressure (for example, front teeth).

How To Select A Cosmetic Dentist

Choosing the right cosmetic dentist, one with extensive training, substantial experience and a gentle approach that understands clients' needs, is the key to achieving a successful outcome-a gorgeous new smile! Below are some guidelines compiled from patients for successfully choosing a cosmetic dentist.

Does the Dentist Have Real Credentials In Cosmetic Dentistry?

It seems as though many dentists say they perform some of cosmetic dentistry as part of their services. In dentistry, as in medicine, specialties exist that are indications of a high level of education and training. Presently, however, no specialty in cosmetic dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association exists. In 1984, however, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) was formed and has the filled the need for credentialing in the area of cosmetic dentistry. The organization currently has 7,000 members in the U.S. and in 40 countries around the world. It is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry, and it administers the leading accreditation program for cosmetic dentists. This accreditation process is a rigorous one, which requires dentists to attend many continuing education courses in cosmetic dentistry, to be tested and to submit a number of cosmetic cases to be judged by a panel of cosmetic dentistry experts.

Does the Dentist Have Extensive Post Graduate Training In Cosmetic Dentistry?

To perform cosmetic dental procedures at the highest level, technical skill and a rigorous program of post-graduate training in cosmetic dentistry, is needed. It may surprise you that the majority of dental schools do not offer training in cosmetic dentistry. It is extremely important that the cosmetic dentist whom you select continually completes courses in cosmetic dentistry. In-depth training is necessary to learn the most advanced techniques and to be aware of the most advanced materials and technology in order to get optimal results.

Does the Dentist Have Extensive Smile Design Experience?

Great cosmetic dentistry is an art. Dentists who are generalists usually have not performed cosmetic smile designs enough, or with a regularity that leads to mastery of this art. If you are considering veneers, for example, you should ask how many veneers the dentist has placed. Look for cosmetic dentists that have placed not just hundreds, but thousands of veneers. This experience allows the dentist to see a wide variety of smiles and to bring this experience and expertise to your smile.

Does the Dentist Have A Caring Approach and Great Communication Skills?

Cosmetic dentistry is a process; it is not a single procedure or operation. So you must find a dentist with whom you can talk easily. It is important that the dentist understands what you desire, and that you understand the process that the dentist is describing. To accomplish this, the dentist should listen and make certain that he or she understands all of your concerns, needs and desires as they relate to your dental health and the appearance of your smile. Only then should he or she spend time diagnosing and consulting on a recommended treatment plan, which should be individualized for each patient.

Does the Dentist Have An Artistic Eye?

It is important to find a dentist who is accurate in his or her evaluation of your needs, precise in the execution of the treatment plan and meticulous in craftsmanship. Make certain that the dentist addresses not only your teeth, but also your gums, lips, facial structure-and your specific requests. Excellent cosmetic dentistry demands a highly sophisticated artistic sense. To achieve optimal aesthetic results, a dentist must have a clear vision of what is artistically possible and appropriate.

Make Certain That You Review Before and After Photos of Work Performed by the Cosmetic Dentist:

You will want to look at before and after photos of cosmetic dentistry that has actually been performed by the dentist you are considering. Be aware that commercially produced photos and albums to show the possibilities of cosmetic dentistry exist. You will want to confirm that you are seeing the actual work of the dentist you are considering and that the before photos are cases similar to yours.

Be Careful Of Going With The Cheapest Price: Many times, you do indeed "get what you paid for." If a dentist is cheaper than others, perhaps that should be a red flag to you.

Other Things to Consider:

You may also want to consider references from other cosmetic dentistry patients, taking a tour of the office, including sterilization areas, and asking about the office's technology and materials. You may also want to check with the state licensing board to verify that the dentist does not have a history of complaints or adverse state Dental Board action.

Tips For Finding Affordable Missouri Dental Plans

Have you been looking for an affordable dental plan in Missouri, but haven't been having any luck? Missouri Dental Plans are just like anywhere else in the USA, but you have to shop around to find the best one. However, there is one particular type of plan that stands out more than any other out there. This is called a Dental Discount Plan.

Dental Discount Plans aren't insurance in any way, shape or form. They simply offer consumers substantial discounts on routine dental care, some of which is not covered immediately by purchasing dental insurance. For example, pre-existing conditions are not covered by dental insurance until you've gone through a "waiting period" of twelve months or more. They cover most things like cleanings, flouride treatments, ect., but even then you'll still have to pay your high premiums and deductible costs.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Dental discount plans cost one low annual fee. In Missouri that fee can be as low as $80.00 per year for membership, after which, you simply pay the dentist the cost of the procedures at the time of your visit. Here's another example. Let's say that you were visiting the dentist for the first time in quite awhile. This is typical because most people can't afford it so don't worry about it. We'll base this example on the St.Louis area. Let's say you needed an

In Depth Check-Up - Usual cost $67.00 - Discount cost $26.00 - Savings $41.00

Full Mouth X-Rays - Usual cost $104.00 - Discount cost $51.00 - Savings $53.00

Adult Teeth Cleaning - Usual cost $75.00 - Discount cost $37.00 - Savings $38.00

Protective Sealant / Tooth - Usual Cost $43.00 - Discount cost $20.00 - Savings $23.00

Root Canal Treatment - Molar - Usual cost $829.00 - Discount cost - $400.00 - Savings $429.00

This is just for one plan that is available in the Saint Louis, Missouri area. You'll notice that the savings add up quickly. I put a few different things on here in this example because this is very realistic if you haven't visited the dentist in quite awhile. The usual cost for these procedures would be $1118.00. The cost with the discount plan is only $534.00. That's a savings of $584.00.

You may be thinking "what if I don't need the Root Canal?". Alright, let's do the math without it. Your total cost without the plan would now be $289.00. Your cost with the plan would still only be $134.00, a savings of $155.00. Even if your individual dental plan costed $100.00, you'd still be ahead $55.00. Also, multiply those savings by the number of people in your family and figure in at least one Root Canal, Extraction, Bridge work, Dentures, Braces or some other major dental care. Also figure that you'll still be able to use the plan for the entire year.

If you live in Missouri and have been considering getting a dental plan, I recommend you take a good look at these inexpensive dental plans first. They may be just what you were in need of.

I Was Born Without Teeth And I'm Going To Die Without Teeth

I was born without teeth and I'm going to die without teeth, is what my patient's husband responded when we casually asked him if he wanted to be seen also. Although not to the same extreme, the underlying reasoning in his response is very common.

We are living in a society that thinks we are so advanced technologically that anything can be fixed or repaired and all will be well in a quick visit to the dentist.

I'll just pull up to the drive thru window and take some teeth to go. Indifference and procrastination are the worst enemies for both the patient and the dental care provider. Dental care is not clear cut, there are many gray areas. Numerous things need to happen just right, in order to have a successful outcome. The more destruction the mouth has suffered the lower the chances a dental care provider has of restoring your teeth to full function and chewing efficacy.

It always amazes me how many patients come into my office requesting for all their teeth to be removed and have a full denture (false teeth) made to replace them so that they don't have to worry about their teeth anymore. They are right in one sense; they no longer have to worry about their natural teeth. Now they have something new to worry about. Dentures are some of the most uncomfortable and inefficient prosthetic devices that exist. They get loose with time and you end up resorting to using messy adhesives to keep them from dropping down while laughing or even just yawning. The plastic denture teeth chip and break off all the time. The denture body itself also commonly breaks into pieces. Dentures also cause a person to have increased incidence of bad breath, and if that's not enough to convince you, quality dentures are not cheap.

A person's mentality has to change in order to prevent the total loss of their teeth and eventual replacement with dentures. If you were to ask anyone with a pair of dentures in their mouth they would tell you that if they could do it all over again they would save their natural teeth for as long as possible and try to mend them as they break with usage. But, as the saying goes, Hindsight is twenty/twenty.

Proper Dental Care For Sensitive Teeth

Have you ever experienced that familiar electric stinging sensation as you take a sip of iced tea or a slurp of your favorite hot soup? Have you ever felt like crying as pain hits you after you took a bite of your favorite candy bar? Well, if you answered yes, there is a great probability that you are suffering from sensitive teeth!

What causes the problem? The problem of sensitive teeth may stem from a wide variety of reasons - ranging from the simple to the complicated. This dental problem can result from a mere bruised tooth caused by biting too hard on something or as a result of a routine dental procedure (such as after having them cleaned or filled). Clamping the jaws tightly and habitual tooth grinding may also lead to this condition. However, tooth or teeth sensitivity may also result from a dead tooth pulp that requires a much more complicated dental procedure.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

In order to solve this dental problem, it would be best to see your dentist to determine what exactly is causing all the trouble. If a simple enamel abrasion or normal gum recession brings about your condition, rejoice! You can effectively deal with the problem just by following these simple suggestions:

Proper dental hygiene is the key. As a rule of thumb, you must observe proper dental hygiene at all times. It would be advisable to brush your teeth at least twice a day using a soft toothbrush and the proper brushing techniques. Flossing at least once every day will also be a great idea. These practices will definitely hold dental plaque at bay and prevent it from causing even more trouble.

Why all this attention in keeping plaque away as much as possible? Well, dental plaque, that white gummy substance that forms on the surface of your teeth, can cause sensitive teeth to react more strongly to the usual stimulants whenever the affected tooth comes into contact with them. Thus, waging a war against dental plaque can definitely spare you from pain and save your day!

Use desensitizing toothpaste - If you are suffering from widespread dental sensitivity due to enamel abrasion or gum-line recession, dental fillings alone cannot effectively solve the problem. One good way to treat this problem is to start using desensitizing toothpastes. These products can help reduce your problem by filling up the tubules in the dentin to minimize your tooth or teeth's sensitivity.

You can also use these special dental products to coat the areas surrounding the sensitive tooth or teeth before you retire for the night to help reduce the pain. For best results, try not to rinse your mouth after the application. Do this for two to three weeks and feel the difference!

Swish on a fluoride rinse - Using specially formulated fluoride rinses can effectively reduce your teeth's sensitivity. You can buy these products in your local pharmacy or at the dental section of any grocery store. For best results, use the product once a day.

Make a stand against snuff, that is. Believing that chewing on a tobacco is much less harmful than smoking it, many teenagers have recently taking on this nasty habit. More popularly known as dip or snuff, tobacco chewing can bring on more harmful effects such as mouth cancers, gum recession, tooth sensitivity and tooth decay.

Be good to your teeth. Follow these suggestions and you can be sure that the problem with your sensitive teeth can be handled more effectively!

How Come They Refuse To Tell Me Prices When I Shop Around For Dentists?

Shopping around for a dentist is actually the last thing you want to do. It is okay to switch dentists, in fact, I encourage you to find a new dentist if you are not comfortable with your current one. But picking a dentist strictly on the prices they charge is the least desirable way to go about it.

Most dental care providers will not tell you over the phone what their fees are because it is not that easy. Just because they tell you what they charge for a root canal or a crown does not mean that is what they will charge you after they have done a comprehensive exam and provided a treatment plan for you. There are many things that need to occur in order to do just a crown or just a root canal. The area may need to be cleaned, maybe a deep cleaning needs to happen to remove some of the gum infection around the tooth in question. Maybe the tooth needs a surgical procedure in order to make the tooth restorable. The prognosis of the tooth may also come into play. Why pay $1200 dollars to restore the tooth today if it will more than likely break up on you in a year or two. Example: Well Mrs. Jones, we can definitely help you get out of pain and save the tooth for you. (Doctor)
That is great. (Patient)

We can do the work for $1450.00 dollars. We can start as early as next week. We'll give you some antibiotics and let the infection calm down. It'll be much easier for us to numb the area up.

$1450 dollars! But your secretary told me you charged $540 dollars for a root canal?

Yes madam. We do charge $540 dollars for a root canal. But, it's not only the root canal that you need, the tooth also needs to be reconstructed and then a crown needs to be placed on top of the tooth to prevent it from fracturing and you losing the tooth in the near future. It would be like throwing your money away.

But Doctor. I thought I was only going to pay $540 dollars. I mean, your secretary said that's what it cost.

Yes madam, my secretary didn't lie to you. She couldn't tell you what else you needed over the phone, there is no way she could know with out a proper initial exam.

As you can tell this conversation is only leading to a catastrophic result. The patient already came in dead set on only paying $540 dollars. To her, this number was the magic number. Even if she does agree to pay the rest of the treatment for the tooth in question, she will always feel a bit cheated. And any little thing that may not go completely as planned will be looked at as a gross failure by the practice and a disappointment once again. So, it is much more professional for a dental care specialist to provide a comprehensive exam first and then discuss the cost of treatment with a higher amount of certainty.

In conclusion, you can not tell anything about the quality of dentistry the individual in question can provide by asking them what they charge for a certain procedure. I have seen both very expensive and very inexpensive dental work that was of poor quality and vice versa. The best way to find a new dentist is by simply asking your friends and relatives about their current dental care provider. They will be more than truthful with you. If they really like their dentist they'll be very vociferous about it and even give you specific details of what has created this great Doctor-Patient relationship. I personally would rather pay a few extra dollars, if need be, for quality work. Though, it would be doubly nice if he/she was inexpensive to boot.

Taking Care Of Dental Stains For Good!

Smile for the camera!, cooed the photographer. And you willingly flashed your most winning smile. One, two, three!, there it goes! You were sure you looked your best and you excitedly wait for the photograph to be printed. However, you get depressed when you look at your picture. There is something wrong somewhere. It was not as perfect as you thought it would be. Your most winning smile just wasn't good enough. Your pearly whites just aren't white enough they are stained!

Stained teeth are among the most common dental complaints heard by dentists all over the country today. What might have caused your once pearly white teeth to become stained and discolored? There are a number of factors that can contribute to this dental problem some may be external while others are internal in nature.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

External factors are comprised of food and non-food items that we habitually eat, drink or put in our mouths. Among these are the following: Tobacco. Tobacco is listed as the leading cause of stained teeth. Whether smoked or chewed, tobacco simply is bad for your dental health! Coffee Tea Colas Some fruits (especially blueberries) and fruit juices (especially grape) Red wine Soy sauce Curry Silver colored fillings that have leached out and discolored the surrounding tooth

On the other hand, internal factors are those factors that we can do nothing about. Aging is considered one of these factors. As you age, the enamel of your teeth begins to thin out allowing the underlying layer of yellowish dentin tissues to show through. This explains why your teeth take on a yellowish stain as you grow older.

Another reason for this common dental complaint can be intrinsic (occurs in the inside of the teeth) in nature. These are most commonly observed in children taking the antibiotic tetracycline or in the offspring of mothers who have taken the drug during pregnancy.

Solving the Stained Teeth Problem - Before you do anything about it, you should first determine the exact cause of your dental problem and be realistic of the results you want to achieve. Teeth are not naturally pure white so do not aim to have one!

The stain caused by some foods and drinks can often be removed with the help of your dentist. It might be possible that a good dental cleaning is all you need to take the stains away! However, intrinsic stains can only be removed by resorting to cosmetic dental procedures such as composite resin bonding and porcelain laminate veneers.

Whichever of these options might be right for you, there really is only one logical course of action to follow after you have restored your pearly white teeth take care of them wisely! You can prevent this dental problem from occurring in the future by taking heed of the following suggestions:

Observe proper dental hygiene. You must brush your teeth at least twice daily using a good toothbrush (choose one with soft bristles), good toothpaste and the proper brushing techniques. Do not scrub your teeth too hard you might actually do more harm than good if you do this! And don't forget to floss daily, either!

Quit smoking. Tobacco is one of the worst dental offenders.

Learn to limit your coffee intake. Have you noticed how coffee leaves a telltale stain on your coffee cup? Well, that's what it will do to your teeth, too!

Don't drink, sip! If you can't avoid drinking iced tea, cola and fruit juices, sip it instead. Using a straw will help minimize the contact between the teeth and the staining liquid.

Get a cosmetic cleaning. It would be a great idea to make an appointment for a cosmetic cleaning in between your regular dental check-ups. This will take care of the problem for good!

How To Locate Discount Dentures - Today!

Regardless of what you may have been told so far by dental insurance companies, discount dentures are still available, if you know how to go about finding them. In most cases you can save as much as 50% on your dentures, depending on what part of the country you live in. I know, I know, life isn't fair. The rates of most dental plans are determined in part by where you live. Let's take a look at what's available out there.

My highest recommendation is for you to sign up for what's called a Discount Dental Plan. Discount Dental Plans are not insurance, they simply give you substantial discounts on routine dental care at the time of your visit. This is how they work:

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

You simply sign up for the plan, which costs anywhere from $80-$180.00 per year, depending on if you're buying an individual dental plan or family dental plan. After you sign up you'll receive a list of participating dentists in your area. Of course, you can make sure that there are dentists in your area that accept the plan before you join. Next, you'll be able to visit a dentist within 1-3 business days for a substantial discount. The only thing that you must be prepared to do is to pay cash at the time of your visit.

Here's an example from a plan that is available in the Fort Worth, Texas area. Keep in mind that some areas may offer less or even greater savings to you. The usual cost of upper dentures in this area is $1252, however, by joining the Dental Discount Plan you can get your upper dentures taken care of for only $732, a savings of $520. The membership cost for this particular discount plan is $99.95 for an individual or $149.95 for an entire family for an entire year. This means that if you are single, instead of paying $1252 for your upper dentures, you can get them discounted to a cost of $831.95, including the cost of the plan, a savings of $420.05. If you have a family then you would pay $50.00 more, but you would still save $370.05, PLUS you would still receive substantial discounts on any other dental procedure that you may need to have taken care of for an entire year. This includes things like cleanings, x-rays, extractions, fillings, Orthodontics and much, much, more. Some plans even provide discounts for Cosmetic Dentistry.

So, if you were under the impression that discount dentures were a thing of the past, I highly recommend that you take a serious look at dental discount plans.

Dental Care - Getting a Brighter Smile

What causes teeth to become discoloured?

Unfortunately there are lots of things that can cause tooth discolouration. Some are easy to avoid, but many are unavoidable. For smokers, the answer is fairly obvious nicotine stains teeth and damages gums prevention is better than treatment in this case. Give it up before it's too late, or your may end up at the dentist undergoing much more than minor treatment.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Harder to give up for some people are the pepping-up caffeinated drinks: coffee, tea and colas. The damage is subtler and it may take years before you notice any effects at all but cutting down on these drinks can stop the problem from worsening. Dark food and drinks, such as red wine, blackcurrant and black coffee can also cause teeth to become discoloured.

One of the most unavoidable causes of changes in tooth colour is time itself. The layer under the enamel on a tooth, called dentin, gradually gets darker with age. Sometimes too the antibiotics we took as a kid, or an accident that traumatized' the tooth - causing the root to die' - causes discolouration. An unfortunate side-effect of Root Canal Therapy is the darkening of a tooth.

Can Anything Be Done To Reverse Tooth Discoloration?

More than half the population are unsatisfied with the colour of their teeth and the good news is there are a range of dental treatments available that can make a big difference. Four of the most common remedies are Bonding, Tooth Whitening, Veneers and Caps or Crowns.

Dental bonding is a straightforward technique using resin on teeth. Bonding will lighten the any stains and cover any flaws with a thin plastic coating. It will last for 7-10 years and typically cost $300-500 per tooth.

Tooth whitening is slightly more controversial, as over-the-counter solutions are unproven and often ineffective. Professional dental preparations are safe and will make a big difference. It is a mild bleaching process that removes stains and restores teeth to their original colour. Most people will see an improvement after the very first treatment and after 2-4 weeks, your teeth will be a healthy natural colour. The costs can vary ranging from around $500 for a standard treatment to over $1000 for the less common laser treatment.

Dental Veneers are another popular dental treatment for whitening teeth. They are custom-made porcelain facings that are glued directly to the surface of your tooth. They are only one millimetre thick and the original tooth is shaved' by the equivalent amount so you wont notice any difference to the thickness of your tooth. Veneers are very resistant to staining, which is an advantage over porous bonding, but they will typically cost double what bonding costs per tooth.

Since the advent of veneers, caps and crowns are used less frequently to improve the appearance of teeth, but the extra coverage and strength a crown gives is beneficial in some cases. The entire tooth above the gum-line is covered and the crown becomes, in effect, the new surface of the tooth. Crowns are typically a little more expensive than veneers.

Want a Bright Smile? Teeth Whitening May Be You Answer

Is there anything sexier than a great smile? Maybe. How about a smile that reveals bright white teeth?

The whiter one's teeth, the younger one tends to look. That's because with age, teeth are subject to dulling stains and residue that builds up and becomes increasingly difficult to get rid of. Most lifestyles are not conducive to having bright white teeth. Just look at how many are in line at the Starbucks drive-through, for example. Coffee and tea are big culprits in staining teeth. Then there's smoking, of course. Also, not brushing teeth often enough, or at least, not soon enough after drinking that cup of joe.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Then there's just the plain old fact that teeth are not normally bright white. They are not usually as white as the whites of our eyes, yet that is what many people strive for. Hence, the immense popularity of teeth whitening products and procedures. If you go to your dentist, they'll charge several hundred dollars per row of teeth. Is it any wonder the do-it-at-home bleaching kits are so common?

You'd think that the profusion of teeth whitening products on the market would make it easy for everyone to run around with a 1,500 watt grin. Not so. Like most things, it's more complicated than that. How do you figure out which product to use to get a bright smile? Teeth whitening is big business, with lots of competing products. Trial and error can get expensive, so examine some criteria before spending your money.

On the market today you can find whitening rinses, whitening toothpastes, bleaching strips, whitening sticks, and whitening molds for a killer smile. These products contain peroxide as the bleaching agent. The bleach is much more potent in the mouthpiece that the dentist would custom-make for you, and charge a lot more for. The biggest difference is that the whitening will occur much faster than if you did it on your own.

Are there any potholes on the path to a gorgeous smile? Teeth whitening [http://lasertargeted.com/teethwhitening/teeth-whitening-bright-smile.html] can make your teeth more sensitive, temporarily. The stronger the peroxide (found in "maximum strength" bleaching preparations), the more sensitive your teeth may be afterwards. Also, whitening strips are not necessarily as convenient as they look. You can't talk while using them, and you have to be sure to be near a sink when you're ready to take them out, so you can rinse your mouth really well afterwards. Most users of bleaching strips consider them to be worth it.

There are also peroxide wands that you can touch up your teeth with when you're out and about, and some of those may even freshen your breath. So, the next time to duck into the restroom to touch up your lipstick, you can touch up your teeth as well!

After any bleaching treatment, it's best not to eat or drink anything for at least a half hour. And since the products contain bleach, take care not to get them near your clothes.

Now that you've spent the research, money, and time to spruce up your pearly whites, maybe you'll think twice about the drive-through coffee -- or maybe try drinking it through a straw!

A Crossbite May Place Teeth on the "Wrong Side of the Tracks"

The majority of orthodontic problems relate to malocclusions, or the improper alignment of the upper and lower teeth when biting or chewing.

Several variations of malocclusions are possible. This article examines crossbites, a malocclusion where the upper teeth are biting inside the lower teeth.
Crossbites frequently are the result of nasal allergies that cause the patient to be a mouth breather. Chronically congested nasal passages can lead to overgrowth of the nose's interior. Constant mouth breathing also can lead to dry mouth, several other types of malocclusions and long-face syndrome (a longer, narrower face than normal.)
A crossbite also can be caused by a narrow upper jaw, or a mismatch of jaw size and positioning between the lower and upper jaw. It also can result when teeth are reversed in position.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

Finally, a crossbite can result from the delayed loss of baby teeth. Some patients hold on to their baby teeth for so long their permanent teeth come in behind the baby teeth, giving the appearance of a second row of teeth.
In addition to mouth breathing, visual cues a patient has a crossbite include snoring, an off-center appearance of the chin; and sliding of the lower jaw to the left or right to facilitate chewing.

If this problem occurs in a patient's upper jaw, the permanent top, front teeth may end up sitting behind the lower front teeth when chewing. This can occur on either one or both sides of the mouth.

Orthodontist, Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen recommends patients with a crossbite be treated as early as possible. This condition can lead to:

Excessive wear of the teeth

Gum disease, including loss of bone surrounding the tooth

Jaw deformity

Improper chewing patterns

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)

An unattractive smile

Several treatment options are available. Dr. Nikaeen may recommend orthodontic treatment begin with a maxillary expansion to broaden the patient's upper jaw. An expansion appliance is fixed to the roof of the patient's mouth and widened each night for one to two months. Once the expander has reached maximum width, the patient will need to wear the appliance for roughly three more months, allowing the bone to harden in to its proper position.

The next step may require the application of braces on the top teeth, during or after expansion. This treatment will close the common gap-tooth grin that develops during the upper-jaw expansion. The patient may finally need to continue wearing braces for one to two years after expansion is completed.

Getting The Right Kit For Braces Cleaning

You can really stress getting new braces. Most of those that need new braces worry about the problems they can have with all that metal shining in their mouth and being picked on. You really should not be concerned about the look of the braces as compared with the results you will have once they are taken off. Many celebrities have also used the braces that have metal wires on them and so did over half of the United States at some time or another.

The main thought about the braces is the problems that will occur with the general cleaning of the mouth and teeth. It becomes harder for you to get the right amount of cleaning with all the things that are now in the way. You also need to be mindful of checking them on a regular basis so that you do not embarrass yourself by smiling and having food stuck in them. The easiest way to solve this problem is to get yourself a special braces cleaning kit and carry it with you wherever you go. This kit can be taken anywhere you go because it is so small.

Your main focus is to stop the things that cause cavities to start. The basic routine for those with do not have braces is three times each and every day. Those that re wearing braces need to clean their teeth within a few minutes of eating anything. The kit is necessary for you to have everything you may need right in front of you to clean the way you need to.

Within the range of the available , the DentiKit is one of the best to get. They have two specific kits. One is for adults and the other one is for children. 5 Tips For Finding Affordable Dentures

Are you in need of new dentures, but you're having trouble finding something that's affordable in your area? This is a common problem for many people, especially seniors and those without any type of dental plan. However, there are a few things that you can do to help find something that's in your budget. Check it out.

#1. Use the Internet to locate dentists in your area. The more dentists that you talk to, the better chance that you'll have of finding something in your price range. There are virtually endless listings online for dental care in every state so your odds of finding something are pretty good using this method.

Risk FREE TRIAL Teeth Whitening
Looking for teeth whitening? Try risk FREE TRIAL teeth whitening solutions.

#2. Use your local Yellow Pages. Hey, they get updated once or twice a year and sometimes, not always but sometimes, you might find something in there that's not listed on the Internet. Also, the Yellow Pages is going to be specifically for the area in which you live. Use it because it still works.

#3. If you're in a rural area, consider driving to a bigger city for your dentures. Where there are more dentists, there is more competition and where there is more competition, the prices are usually less. You'll have to be the one to decide whether the difference in price will be worth the trip into town.

#4. Get price quotes - In writing. Don't be afraid to leverage these dentists against each other in this manner. Be polite, but firm. Paying cash will usually take you a long way in getting the price that you want.

#5. Buy a Dental Discount Plan. This is one of the best ways to get affordable dentures. Dental Discount Plans are NOT insurance. They are simply a plan where the members visit participating dentists and receive substantial discounts off of routine dental care, usually anywhere from 10-60%, depending on the plan. I've seen people save up to 50% on upper dentures with these discount dental plans. This does, of course, depend upon the plan you choose and the area in which you reside. If you are in need of affordable dentures, I recommend that you get more information about Dental Discount Plans. They may be the most affordable deal around.

Wafer-thin Veneers Provide Years of Bright Smiles

Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular and aesthetically pleasing means a cosmetic dentist uses to create a more beautiful smile. Porcelain veneers are super thin shells of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of the teeth. It is a rather simple procedure that requires little or no anesthesia and is the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front of your teeth.

When drinks, food, age and cigarettes discolor teeth, porcelain veneers are the choice to brighten teeth and improve your smile. Veneers are highly resistant to staining and can achieve a very strong bond to the teeth underneath easily surpassing other restorative dental options.

Porcelain veneers are a conservative approach to improving the appearance of teeth adversely affected by too much fluoride as a child, stained from the use of antibiotics with tetracycline, or simply unattractive due to injury, fillings, or decay. Patients who have gaps between teeth or chipped teeth may want to consider porcelain veneers. Just like crowns, veneers can last many years if they are properly applied..

Typically, the application of porcelain veneers takes three visits to the dentist: diagnosis and planning, preparation and bonding. During the first visit, you will take an active role in the design of your new smile. Your dentist will explain veneers thoroughly to you and decisions about what is best for you will be made.

During the second visit, the preparation of the teeth visit, the teeth will be prepared for the veneers by first being lightly buffed. Only about a half a millimeter of the tooth is removed; this may require local anesthetic. A mold is then take of the teeth, which is sent to the lab that will make your veneers.

The third and last appointment will take approximately 1-2 hours. First, the veneers are placed on the teeth to check their fit and color. At this time, the color can still be adjusted, but the color cannot be changed after the veneers are cemented in place. To apply the veneer, the teeth are cleansed with a solution to achieve a bond. A special cement is placed between the veneer and the tooth, and a visible light beam initiates the release of a catalyst to harden the cement.

After approximately two weeks, you should return to your dentist for a follow-up visit. Keep in mind that upon close inspection, you may detect slight variations in the color of the veneers compared to your own teeth. This is common and even occurs with our natural teeth.

Crowns Can Give Your Teeth the Appearance of Royalty

A crown is a tooth-shaped cover placed over a tooth that is damaged or decayed. Crowns, often called caps, are made to look just like your teeth. There are many reasons why people see their cosmetic dentist to get crowns, but generally the tooth has been damaged quite extensively, and filling material cannot replace the missing tooth structure to make the tooth strong enough. Crowns can hold together parts of a broken tooth and can also be used to hold a bridge in place. Misshapen and badly discolored teeth can also be covered by crowns.

Some crowns are prefabricated and are made of plastic or stainless steel; prefabricated crowns can be used as a temporary restoration until a permanent crown is manufactured. Crowns can be all metal, porcelain fused to metal (PFM), or all ceramic. The metals used in making crowns are gold alloy, other alloys such as palladium or a base-metal alloy such as nickel or chromium. The all metal and PFM crowns are the strongest and are typically used for back teeth. PFM and all-ceramic crowns look just like real teeth. Crowns can last at least 7 years typically, but some have lasted as long as 40 years.

Since teeth needing crowns are often decayed and damaged, endodontic (root canal) treatment is often necessary before the crown is placed. However, not everyone who needs a crown will also need a root canal. To put a crown in place, your dentist must file down the tooth to make room for it. After filing down the tooth, he or she will use a piece of thread or cord to push the gum down around the tooth and then make an impression of the tooth. The impression material is removed after several minutes. The impressions are sent to the lab and the crown is made. In the meantime, you will receive a temporary crown usually made of plastic and made right in the office on the day of your visit. At your next visit, the temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown will be tested. Once the crown is ready, it is cemented to your tooth.

Having a crown placed is a fairly simple procedure that typically does not cause any post-procedure discomfort or sensitivity. If you do notice pain or sensitivity when you bite down, you should call your dentist as this usually means the crown is too high on the tooth and can be easily fixed.

If your crown becomes loose or chipped, you should call your dentist. If the crown comes completely out of your mouth, clean the crown and the tooth and call your dentist to get an appointment the next day to have this repaired.

Have You Ever Wondered Why You May Get Two Different Treatment Plans From Two Different Dentists?

Why am I getting two different treatment plans when I go for a second opinion? The question is difficult to answer. For the same reason that one person may say the sky is light blue and another may call it dark blue.

For starters, clinical experience plays a major role in this situation. One dentist may feel obligated to be as aggressive as he can with taking care of any type of lesion or fracture to prevent any further progression of the problem at hand. Another dentist, during his many years of taking care of patients, may have seen something very similar to the tooth in question before and can, with a reasonable degree of safety, decide to play the wait and see game with that same tooth to see if it shows any sign of change in the coming months or even years.

A patients ability to maintain an area healthy through proper brushing and oral hygiene also plays a heavy role. If I were to see a patient that has no tartar build up and shows signs of flossing routinely than I personally would not work on an incipient lesion(baby cavity). But, if another patient came to me and had terrible plaque and tartar build up and showed he didn't care to change his dental hygiene than I would recommend working on an incipient lesion. For the reason that I didn't know when the patient would be back for dental care and I would hate to tell them that they now needed a root canal and a crown on the same lesion that last year only needed a small filling.

Another reason for recieving different treatment plans is due to the availability of different types of treatment procedures for the same tooth in question. Some dentists may have chosen to focus more on a specific type of product or procdure and may only offer you treatment within that narrow realm. Have you ever wondered why the so called 'Cosmetic Dentists' only want to give everyone a 'Hollywood Smile'? They tend to focus only providing porcelain crowns and veneers which are very expensive procedures. (For your information: Cosmetic Dentists do not exist. There is no specific specialty approved by the ADA that will give you that title. All dentists an do cosmetic procedures. How well they are at doing it is a different question.) Now, not receiving different treatment options doesn't mean your dentist is trying to pressure you into his way of thinking. Certain procedures, depending on the situation at hand, show a higher chance of success and merit to be the treatment of choice offerred by your dentist.

Braces NYC Solve Your Dental Problems And Give You More Reasons To Smile

A visit to your dentist could be as pleasurable as walking barefoot on hot sand. However this kind of situation arises usually because we have waited for too long before making that much needed visit. An early intervention in cases of dental problems could actually convert these dreaded visits into a pleasant activity that is essential in maintaining oral health. Problems of teeth alignment are one such common reason that requires the intervention of a competent dentist. And the use of braces is the most effective and usual solution for this common problem. People across all age groups and mainly youngsters in NYC and other places can be seen with braces, confident in the knowledge that soon they will be flashing brilliant smiles with perfectly aligned teeth.

The braces NYC can offer a great relief not only from alignment problems but also from a life of constantly being ridiculed by friends and even family. Although many teenagers and adults are embarrassed about wearing the regular metal braces as it seems to highlight their defect, they need to remember that nobody is born perfect. A dental problem like the alignment of teeth can be easily taken care of by regular use of braces. Now braces NYC also offer the option of invisible braces known as invisalign' that are usually made of plastic or ceramic, making them very difficult to spot and therefore invisible'. However such braces, in contrast to regular ones need to be taken off at certain time, like during meals, and so require a longer period of treatment.

Using braces can be painful initially and the user needs to adjust with the funny sensation of an alien entity inside their mouth. A competent dentist can help the user be as comfortable as possible during the initial days of using braces. Certain activities like playing musical instruments using the mouth could be difficult and even sound funny. The wearer of braces in NYC however needs to constantly remind himself/herself about the long term benefits. A quick search on the internet can show the names of various celebrities, who are perhaps known for their looks, as having worn braces when they were young. A school going teenager who is embarrassed about wearing braces can then gain confidence, secure in the knowledge that if her favorite celebrity can overcome the experience of wearing braces, then so can she.

The ongoing research and innovation in the field of oral healthcare is constantly discovering improved and convenient way to provide the best oral care possible. The existence of a wide variety of braces in NYC and other places, that consist of colored bands, etc, and even the invisalign braces are a major proof of this advancement. A visit to the dentist need not be as scary as before. Now there is no need to suffer from dental problems such cavities, broken tooth, gum problems and bad breath. A basic oral care and hygiene routine and regular checkups by a competent dentist can go a long way in preserving that million dollar smile.

Homemade Toothache Remedy

Toothache is one of the most horrible and painful experiences a person can go through, in my opinion, it really is extremely unpleasant and what's worse is that it is so common, many people suffer it throughout the world and most of them don't have a clue about what they can do to reduce the problem, most people just think that it will go away or that all they can do is wait to see a dentist, this is not the case, there are home remedies you can use to help ease the pain, in this article I am going to share one of those with you, enjoy.

Homemade Toothache Remedy

Now, before I get started with the remedy I would like to make one thing clear, the only people who can professionally examine and treat your toothache are dentists, if you are experiencing any sort of toothache or dental problems then you need to make an appointment with your dentist and see what thye have to say about it, don't think that toothache isn't serious because it is and it can get a lot worse too.

Now for the remedy...

It's very simple and very quick to do, all you need is a shot glass and some whiskey, this is how you do it...

Fill a shot glass with whiskey

Take the whiskey into your mouth but do not swallow any of it

Swig it around for just a little while, maybe ten seconds

Hold the whiskey over the tooth that is causing you pain for around ten seconds

Spit the rest of it out

That's it, very simple and quick to do and it might help you a lot, the reason this method may work is because the gums around your teeth will absorb some of the alcohol and the alcohol sort of "numbs" the pain a little, you're probably quite surprised by this but it can work and it may ease your pain a lot so give it a try.

This is just one homemade toothache remedy and there are many more you can try out, if this one doesn't have a positive affect then you can just try another method out and see if it does, remember to get yourself a dentist appointment and make sure you go if you want to get the problem treated as soon as possible, in the meantime, you may want to try out the remedy above.
